This is Franz. He loves to sing. Someday he wishes to be a famous opera singer. If all else fails, he's decided to take on an acting career as Godzilla.
FULL VIEW PLEASE!
I named him Franz after Franz Kafka, the author of the book The Metamorphosis, which I've chosen for a book report in school. It's about a man who turns into a bug. Yep, I think Franz is adorable. I love him.
Mind you, these shots were a PAIN to shoot. This little guy did NOT want to cooperate. He just kept cruisin' around, but I had my stepbrother's help. After 30 minutes plus of kneeling in the grass while wearing a skirt (ouch) and 150 shots later, only 27 came out in focus and only about 10 of those I actually liked. But, oh, do I say it was worth it.
I commented on flickr, but I'll repeat it here: When I audio-recorded birds & animals, etc., I learned how impossible it is to get nature to "work with you"---I appreciate the madness! (Professional nature photographers go through it all the time, except they have staffs, money and lots more time, the little buggers.) You got some lovely shots against the blended green background, and the flare (yes?) becomes part of the picture. He's either singing to it, or it's his spotlight. Lovely, p. (And I have to say it: You chose Kafka for a book report??? You should get an "A" for determination! Gregor Samsa has one bad morning, and everyone else has to know about it! Weighty reading!)
Oh, I know, I am so glad the flare is there. I saw it as his spotlight and the stick is his stage. Despite how difficult this shoot might have been, it was still fun and I love these shots. I don't know what I would've done if I hadn't brought my D40 with me that day.
The report wasn't really that bad. What we had to do was individually, write a creative story based on an event in the author's life and then, in groups, create a gameboard based on the book with 60 questions on plot, character, literary devices, and themes. It was pretty fun, actually, and it's a good story even though Kafka himself didn't think so. I'm certainly glad that his friend didn't burn all his manuscripts like Kafka had wished for.
Thanks! Haha, Franz was the only suitable name I could think of at the time. I didn't think Fuzzy or Furry would've done him justice. No, no, he is far too sophisticated for that nonsense. And it's not like I loooove caterpillars, I just really like these kinds because they really are fuzzy and he turned out adorable in these shots and they look like funny eyebrows... Ok, maybe I kind of do like caterpillars.
The name Franz would sound more original than Fuzzy or Furry And yeah, maybe you do kinda like caterpillars Maybe they're not that bad after all XD But that's one great shot
